Chapter 4 — Dining at the house

Dining in

Every D1 house is a whole-house rental with a kitchen. Meals are not included — which means the evening is yours to arrange however you like.

Four styles

Four ways to do dinner.

From the luxury of a chef at your table to everyone cooking together. Choose by group size and mood.

No. 1

Call a sushi chef to the house

Sushi-dokoro Rekishikon, a sushi kitchen that works only on location, comes to the house with fish from the seas of Ehime. Watching each piece formed in front of you may well be the highlight of the trip. The price is a call-out fee plus a per-person charge for the meal. It serves all five D1 houses.

No. 2

Barbecue and party courses from Shimaudon

A barbecue course on the terrace, a party course of island sashimi, a seasonal hotpot course. All come with unlimited drinks and need to be booked 3–4 days ahead. Takeout is available too.

No. 3

Party platters and catering from Miki

Platters for a crowd, or a seasonal course to linger over. Miki, the bento shop beside the port, will set your table with the season's catch and the season's vegetables.

No. 4

Cook for yourselves

Every house has a kitchen. Shop at the A-Coop in Yura or the Co-op in Tomari, add mikan from a roadside stall, and the island table is set. In summer, having lunch at a beach hut is a fine idea too.

MemoBasic seasonings are in the house, along with a full set of tableware and cooking gear.

MemoShima no Table Gogoshima, by Tomari Port, also offers schoolyard barbecues and set courses by reservation (see island food for details).
