No reservation is needed. Tickets are sold on board (there is an online prepayment service as well). If you are taking a car, line up in lane 1 at the pier. For timetables and fares, please check the official Gogoshima Ferry site.

The D1 houses are whole-house rentals with kitchens, and meals are not included. Instead you can choose how to do the evening: call in Rekishikon, the visiting sushi chefs; order a barbecue or party course from Shimaudon (book 3–4 days ahead); order platters or catering from Miki; or cook for yourselves. See the dining page for details.

There is no convenience store. For supermarkets there are two: the A-Coop near Yura Port and the Co-op near Tomari Port, which between them cover food and daily goods (each closes one day a week). In front of Yura Port there is also a vending machine selling island souvenirs.

Some places take cash only. There is an ATM at Takahama Port, so it is worth drawing cash before you board.

The island is hilly, so an electric-assist rental bike is the way to go. You can pick up and drop off at either Yura Port or Tomari Port. There are also two-seater micro EV rental cars, and the Gogoshima Fureai Taxi, which must be booked by the day before. Around the ports, walking is plenty.

Washigasu beach shelves gently and is popular with families, and Aikogahama has a swimming area marked off with buoys. In summer there are gear-free barbecues at the beach huts. The houses have table tennis, games and other things to play with on a rainy day.

Guest House AO welcomes pets (please confirm numbers and conditions when you book). Pets are also welcome on the terrace at Shimaudon.

Head for Space Gogoshima, the coworking space (guests of the D1 houses use it as much as they like while they stay), or a café such as Cotton John Coffee. At weekends the taproom at the farmhouse brewery is open too. And a rainy day of table tennis and board games in a house of your own is no bad thing.

Space Gogoshima, the coworking space in front of Yura Port, is free for guests of the D1 houses to use as much as they like throughout their stay. It is an open, glass-walled room with everything from single desks to a meeting room that seats 8. Monitors and other equipment can be loaned, and it works for seminars and team retreats as well.

Sailings run into the evening, but the times change with the season and the day of the week. Please check the timetable for the day on the official Gogoshima Ferry site. A few sailings are suspended over the New Year period.
